Job description

Join the SEI team as a change agent for the revenue accounting cycle! This role is involved in accounting for complex transactions for Revenue Recognition, Accounts Receivable and Bad Debt Expense. Provides recommendations for process improvements and participates with IT in system development in support of accounting processes and upgrades. Collaborates cross-functionally to identify and resolve transactional issues. Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures and SOX. May supervise, train, and develop direct report(s).

Month-end close:

Accounting for revenue, AR and bad debt expense

Review journal entries prepared by staff

Review GL account reconciliations

Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and resolve transactional issues

Perform variance analyses and related research

Ensure compliance with GAAP and accounting policies

Ongoing:

Assist with requests from internal and external auditors; work with auditors to resolve audit questions

Work on various SOX tasks and projects
Review existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement and help implement approved changes
May oversee and develop direct reports
Other duties and special projects as assigned

Information Systems:

Ensure proper accounting resulting from new systems functionality
Represent accounting team in system development projects

Education:

From a Regionally accredited institution; Bachelor's degree in accounting
Advanced degree in accounting preferred

Work Experience:
5-7 years of progressive experience in corporate GL work with focus on revenue cycle preferred

Job Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP
Experience with the revenue accounting cycle
Versatile project management skills
Ability to train and develop direct reports
Ability to manage multiple projects in a complex environment
Experience handling corporate closes and audit engagements
Must have strong computer skills including knowledge of system fundamentals
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain
Ability to articulate complex issues clearly

Certifications:

CPA preferred
