Description

Our client, a leading HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractor with over 40 years of experience, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team in Centreville, VA. The successful candidate will report to the Controller and be responsible for overseeing staff, daily accounting processes, and month-end close. This is a permanent position, requiring 5 days per week in-office.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations

• Lead and supervise the accounting staff, providing guidance and mentorship as needed

• Ensure the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Participate in the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing financial analysis to support decision-making

• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers

• Develop and implement internal controls and policies to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations

• Collaborate with other departments to support business initiatives and ensure the accuracy of financial data

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CMA certification preferred

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities

• Experience in a construction or contracting environment preferred

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles

• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
